Future clear for flow of technology

ASIA and the Middle East are emerging as key growth markets for Adelaide water company Hydrosmart.
Hydrosmart supplies industrial and domestic systems to eliminate the problems caused by chemicals and minerals in water.
Managing director Paul Pearce said scale, corrosion, salinity, algae and other
chemical problems were preventable using Hydrosmart computer technology.
"We see ourselves as the Microsoft of the water industry" he said. "We have applied the technology to a wide range of applications.
"For example, with swimming pools we have lowered the need for chlorine by up to 80 per cent." Mr Pearce said the technology broke
down minerals and chemicals in the water to a smaller, non-reactive particle size.
This allowed for non chemical algae control and prevention, enhanced plant growth and viable crops in high salinity bore water.
David Currie from Western Australia's Palm Grove Golf Complex said using a Hydrosmart system meant the course looked healthier
and eliminated the need for extra fertilisers.
Recent orders have been placed with Hydrosmart to export its equipment to golf courses in Bali and Thailand, and farms in Dubai looking to overcome salinity problems.
Mr Pearce said that Hydrosmart was currently conducting a trial with one of the world's largest shipping tanker lines, Singapore's Neptune Orient Lines.
