Re : Mint Solutions - 15 Hoban Avenue, Montmorency, Victoria 3094
The Mint Solutions organization have fitted the Hydrosmart System to Australian RO/PAX
vessels Spirit of Tasmania I & II. This system has demonstrated clear benefits to the
onboard Evac Toilet Systems and associated pipework/sewage tanks.
The 2 ex Superfast vessels (Superfast III & Iv) built in Kvaerner Masa Finland in 1998
have cabins and facilities for 1400 passenger and 110 crew in 208 cabins and other
cruise seat and public areas. This equates to extensive WC units and associated pipe
systems. At the 2004 Dry Docking in Sydney great effort was made to clean the entire
system and provide a “near new” piping system before the Hydrosmart System was
fitted.
Following fitting monthly checks of set monitoring points were made resulting in little or no
build up of uric acid crystals, commonly found in such systems and the source of constant
maintenance and infusion of costly chemicals.
After the trial period of 6 months, TT-Line Company Pty Ltd confirmed the order.
Subsequent retrofitting to Spirit of Tasmania III (Ex Superfast II built 1995 Seebeckwerft
Germany) of similar passenger numbers, has indicated considerable benefits, and already
some changes in physical properties of internals of piping that lend it more conducive to
effective cleaning.
Senior ships personnel have indicated a general decrease in Evac problems and a general
improvement to sewage tank operations with a slight reduction in requirements for microbes
infusion for effective sewage treatment onboard.
Success of Evac WC systems has prompted TT-Line Company Pty Ltd to investigate other
Hydrosmart products involving fuel systems.
