Dear Mark, I am writing to you regarding the Hydrosmart Ionising Unit that you installed approximately 18 months ago. We have a Getinge Steriliser in which we sterilise all our instruments, drapes and gowns for use during operating. Each year we have an inspection carried out by the Department of Labour and Industry. At this time if our steriliser is in good condition we are issued with a Boiler Licence. In September 1999 when the unit was having the annual inspection it was found that the elements inside the steriliser had rusted through due to the poor quality of water that we have in South Australia. Also the chamber was in constant need of cleaning due to rust. The inspector recommended that we do something about our water otherwise the replacement of the elements would be frequent and costly and eventually the whole unit would deteriorate. On investigation of various water improving units we decided to install the Hydrosmart unit. The reasons were based on cost, ease of installation and the size of the unit. Since installation the rust inside the chamber of the steriliser is almost non existent. On inspection of the internal part of the steriliser the elements are in excellent condition and our call outs for breakdowns has been reduced dramatically. The Department of Labour and Industry have inspected the steriliser since installation and they are happy with the results and again issued us with our Boilers Licence I would highly recommend the Hydrosmart for all of the abovementioned reasons.
