I have a small vineyard at Hall in the A.C.T. and have been using the Hydrosmart Water Conditioners since March 1998. We were desperately short of water when we planted our seedlings and it was necessary to use bore water. The flow was 2,000 litres per hour with high dissolved salts (over 2,000 ppm). We fitted the Hydrosmart Conditioner and were very pleased with the growth rate and quality of our seedlings. Our knowledge of irrigation was limited at that stage but when the consultant came from "Irritrol" (then "James Hardie") his first comment was that our drippers were clean with no deposits of Calcium scale. At the end of the growing season there was no need to flush the irrigation lines. As a result of our confidence with the quality of the use of the water and the effect on the pump I am able to plant two more hectares.

Tas Ford contacted Suntec Consultants, our researchers in New Zealand because he was losing 80% of his lettuce crop to tipburn. The scientists agreed that the nutrients were not being transported through the leaf to the tips. After installing the Hydrosmart unit to his NFT hydroponic system, he reduced his crop failure to 5%.

I am happy to recommend the Hydrosmart Water Conditioners for domestic and agricultural applications. I have had my Water Conditioner installed for 12 months. The water texture is improved and no longer as hard. We have saved money because hot water elements no longer have any scale and therefore do not need to be replaced. Whereas previously we used rainwater in our electric jug we now use the tap water and after 9 months the appliance is still in the same condition as when we bought it. In my garden the treated water enables me to use liquid fertiliser more efficiently (½ as much) with the same results.

Eight months ago we installed a Hydrosmart Water Conditioner on the kitchens at British Aerospace, Tamworth Airport, where the water is very hard. The Hobart Flight type Dishwasher and Rationale Steam Oven were both in a bad state due to heavy scaling and had been causing problems needing constant service. When the Hydro-Smart unit was put in place all other filter systems were disconnected and not replaced.
We first noticed that the thick layers of scale on the inside of the tank started to soften and peel away in chunks. This continued until all scale was removed.
The Chefs and Catering Manager, Craig Lumsden, reported cleaner jets on the dishwasher and quality of washing much better. Everything is generally cleaner and continuing to improve.

12 months ago we installed a Hydrosmart Water Conditioner. Our cappuccino machine in our café has always had trouble with our hard water but now the blocking of pipes and cleaning of the probes seems to have been solved. (Previously the probes used to scale up making the boiler fill up and overflow). I pulled the machine apart for a routine check-up and had to do no pipe cleaning at all. The pipe leading to the probe was clear and there was no scale on the boiler, only a small amount in the bottom, which I scooped out. Our pipes in our Hobart Dishwasher are also cleaner.
Do I think my service calls are reduced?…..Absolutely!

N.B. When we returned our machine to upgrade it needed no cleaning and all parts were like new. Roger Thomas, the Service Manager, at Cantarrella Bros, Adelaide, declared it "unbelievable".

Barry filled a 20-litre bucket of soft scale out of the bottom of his boiler when he opened it for annual inspection and service, which always involved an acid bath. He was amazed! "In the first ten weeks I had excellent results of limescale removal. There were 6" large pipe-shaped pieces of limescale falling off! The results in loss of limescale were equivalent to an acid bath. As far as a water softener, the Hydro-Smart Unit is equal to, if not better, than a traditional water softener. I am saving $15 a week because I don't have to pay for salt."
