Re Water Saving with Hydrosmart 23 April 2009
To whom it May concern.
The Hydrosmart system was installed on a Club’s Olympic competition pool in December 2007. The system has been operating faultlessly and has produced the following results.
In June 08, the then General manager informed us that
the Club had “measurable savings on water usage” .
This was an estimated saving of 70 tons of water each month.
This equated to approximately 840 tons each year.
As a result of the saving and improved water quality, the Club decided to also install the system on its larger pool.
Both the pools now have a reduced TDS
(Total Dissolved Solids) from 300 - 400 down to 108 to 114.
This is because of the elimination of the normal pool chemicals.
Only a minimum amount of chlorine is used so there is none
of the “swimming pool odor” of chloramines.
No pH balance chemicals, Muriatic acid and Soda ash.
No balance chemicals, Calcium Carbonate and Sodium Bi Carbonate.
No Algaecide, Copper Sulphate.
No clarifier, Polymer Alum.
This results in low TDS water.
The benefit is the backwash water is odorless and almost clear.
It can be re recycled and not sent to waste down the drain as normal.
It can be used for watering the plants, lawns, washing etc..
All this results in further water savings.
